Product Overview
Our Naturopath’s Tip- "Barley Grass is the best product to take to alkalise and re-balance ph levels".
Barley grass powder is made from the dried young leaves of the barley plant and is possibly Nature's most complete food. As a natural multi-vitamin, Barley Grass provides all the vitamins, minerals, trace elements, enzymes, fiber and special nutrients like chlorophyll essential in our diet to meet our nutritional requirements. All these nutrients are integrated by Nature into a natural balance and potency un-matched by synthetic formulations.
Synergy Barley Grass is 100% pure, whole leaf Barley Grass powder (Hordeum vulgare). It is grown outdoors in an environmentally clean area of Australia in deep, rich soils. Synergy Barley Grass contains no additives, fillers, colors or preservatives, and is handled sensitively every step of the way during growing, harvesting and processing of the plant in order to protect its nutrient profile.
Unlike barley grain, Synergy Barley Grass contains NO GLUTEN, ADDITIVES, FILLERS or BINDERS.
Weight for weight, Synergy Barley Grass leaf powder contains:
- 500% more Vitamin C than oranges.  Â
- 200% the Calcium of milk.
- 500% more iron than spinach.
- 200% the fibre of bran.
- the major 18 vitamins, 20 minerals and 8 basic proteins required for proper body function.
- a generous supply of Beta-carotene, important in the function of Vit. A.
- a rich supply of Chlorophyll, a natural cleanser.
- Iron, Calcium and Potassium and the trace elements Zinc, Magnesium and Selenium.
- Antioxidants including SOD (super oxide dismutase).
- a highly alkalizing food which counters the over-acidity of many processed foods.
The plant is harvested while young and tender, at its optimum nutritional peak. The freshly harvested leaf is transported within 1 hour to the processing plant where it is immediately slow dried in rotary driers at just above body temperature for a minimum period of 22 hours. The dried leaf is then milled into a fine powder using a world first twin pin milling system where the dried leaf enters a vacuum and is milled into a consistent particle size so it can easily be dissolved into liquids. Because this total system operates under vacuum it does not subject the product to any heat or friction usually found with conventional grinding methods - such heat compromises the quality and integrity of the product.
Where Does Barley Grass Come From?
Synergy Natural Barley Grass is grown on a certified organic farm nestled on the banks of the mighty Murray River in a regional provincial center in Victoria, Australia. This region is a clean, pollution free environment, isolated from high density urban development and heavy industrial operations.(i.e. without pesticides, herbicides, insecticides or fungicides).
Manufacturing Process of Synergy Natural Organic Barley Grass
Organic Soil Preparation
Organically certified land is irrigated to gain subsoil moisture.
Organic Seed Sowing
Soil is tilled to 150 mm deep, then sowed with organically certified seed into the moist soil.
Young Leaf Harvesting
The green Leaf is mechanically harvested directly into transportation bins when the plant is at optimum growth.
Transporting
The freshly harvested leaves are immediately transported for processing to the certified organic factory registered for the drying, milling and packaging of young grasses.
Drying Process
The freshly harvested leaves are placed into electronically controlled, low heat temperature rotating drying drums, to achieve uniform drying. The fresh leaf is dried at a temperature of between 40 & 45 degree Celsius for a period of 20–24 hours.Â
Coarse Milling
On completion of the drying process, the dried leaf is vacuumed from the driers directly into a hammer mill where the dried product is milled to a coarse particle size and packed into sealed plastic bags prior to the final fine milling process.
Pasteurization & Fine Milling
The coarse-milled product is transferred to a Mixing silo where the product is mixed to achieve a uniform color. After blending, the coarse product is steam pasteurized to reduce any excessive microbial load and then transferred via auger system to the Fine Milling facility, where it is milled to a sub 80 micron fine powder.
The final product is then immediately vacuum packed into 20kg Polypouch bags, under controlled conditions, and placed into cardboard cartons and stored ready for sale or repackaging.
During the fine milling process a small sample is taken from each carton of the finished product and combined to form a single sample which is then sent to an independent laboratory for analysis to ensure that the finished product meets the product standards & specifications.
The product is not manually handled during the whole process.
